This album is a collection of San Francisco Bay Area fingerstyle guitars tunes. Although it isn’t in my birth country, I consider the Bay Area to be my home, and the music on this CD is influenced as much by being written in San Francisco, as it is by my travels and by my friends around the world. When I’m on tour, people often ask me about the “San Francisco Fingerpicking Scene,” pointing out players such as John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Alex de Grassi, Michael Hedges, and others, all of who made the City by the Bay their home base for a time in their careers. I decided to use this album to highlight some of my local contemporaries, some of which have been around longer and are known better than others. If you haven’t heard their music before, I hope you enjoy this CD’s compositional contributions by Duck Baker, Steve Baughman, Patrick Francis, Pete Madsen, and Dale Miller. There are many other players whose tunes would have been worthy of inclusion, and the best way to find out about them and the current state of the scene is to come out and see us all play in cafés and acoustic music venues, at house concerts and festivals, and—this being the 21st century—on the internet.
